A new Bridgestone Blizzack

Blizzack winter tire
The Blizzak WS90 tire is available in 51 sizes and covers 86 percent of the passenger sedans and minivans on the road today.

Are your winter tires at the end of their useful life? Plan ahead and look into a set for next year. Bridgestone has announced an addition to the Blizzack line – the WS90. Designed for family cars and minivans, the Blizzak WS90 has the latest in Bridgestone winter tire technology. It will be available in 51 sizes in May.

Bridgestone says the all-new tread compound delivers improved stopping distance on ice. It says the patented Multi-Cell technology draws water away from the surface of ice to enhance grip.  Bridgestone claims the WS90 in head-to-head comparison testing, stopped at least 14 percent shorter on ice than the Michelin® X- Ice® Xi3, Toyo GSi5TM, Continental WinterContactTM SI, and Nokian Hakkapeliitta R2TM tires.

“The WS90 also features a specially designed tread pattern for longer lasting performance,” the company says. The new WS90 comes with the company’s new EdgePerformance Technology package. Interlocking sipes in the tire’s tread design provide more edges for enhanced snow and wet performance.

The WS90 joins the WS60, WS70 and WS80 in the company’s line of 11 winter tires

Although I have been covering and writing about the automotive scene for more than 40 years and the light still grows brightly.
