GMC is using the 2019 Terrain Denali to gain a foothold in the growing mid-size luxury utility vehicle segment. It has positioned the Denali against established luxury brands like Audi, BMW, Infiniti, Lexus, Lincoln and Mercedes.
General Motors has used the Denali name for a decade. It first appeared as an up-level Yukon, and has since morphed its way unto every GMC product. In making a Terrain into a Denali, GMC has been able to take advantage of the new Terrain. The 2019 Terrain Denali has been sized to appeal to buyers in this segment. As a result, it rides on a wheelbase that has been reduced by 8.5 cm. The new Terrain is lower, and about 175 kilos lighter, yet it retains almost as much interior volume as the outgoing model.
